Gurukula means the place of the teacher. Literally, guru means teacher, and kula means family. So Gurukula means more than, just a school, but the place where the student comes to be a part of the family of the guru for some time – and learn the culture and etiquette of the Vedas, as well as the knowledge.
In the Vedic educational system, the focus is always on progressive life, ultimately leading to service and surrender to the Supreme Lord. There are many gurus in one’s life, beginning from the mother, then father, then teachers, and finally the spiritual master.
“Gurur Brahmaa gurur Vishnuh Gurur Devo Maheshvarah
Gurur Saakshaat Prarabrahma Tasmai Sree Gurave Namah”
So the system of Gurukula is very deep and significant in the life of an individual, and is one of the stages in accepting the authority of the master. For this reason it is very important that there is a seamless transition between family and school and back again.
If the student feels that the teacher and the parent are both to be respected and honored, and if they feel that the teachers and the parents are “on the same page” about their education, and they are easily able to understand the importance of accepting a master, and making tangible progress on the path.
GU mean Darkness and RU means Light, so Guru is one who can lead us from Ignorance to Knowledge, darkness to light, worry to Happiness. According to our ancient scriptures all problems, worries etc in one’s life occur due to lack of Knowledge and ignorance.
As it is not an easy task to understand higher values, Almighty himself takes in different forms to incarnate in the form of Masters so that we can relate to them in many ways and understand the true meaning of life and creation.
If we see around we can observe that there is an infinite power running behind this creation and whole creation in itself a miracle to name a few Infinite power of sun and moon (unlimited supply of energy and light), discipline in nature, seasons, unlimited supply of oxygen, countless number of plants and animals, five elements, plants releasing oxygen, interdependency of all livings beings , whole mechanism of human body no wonder why we claim human body is a mini universe etc ..
“Inner transformation leads to outer transformation”. Change always starts from us, As Lord Dattatreya said one has something to learn from every creature and from everyone on this planet. Each and Everyone have something to contribute to others by way of knowledge, wisdom and personal experience, A wise person learns from others’ mistakes. Most persons learn from their own mistakes except for a minority.
Gurus teachings and messages are more important than gurus physical body as they say “Message is more important than Messenger”.
In physical world, all products come with a user guide so that we can use it in a right manner and make the most out of it, in the similar way their teachings and messages can act as a user manual to make the most of this human life by realizing the hidden potential which lies in all of us and also understanding the light within ourselves.
